What did Pipplet offer?
According to ETS's description, Pipplet was an online tool that measured written and oral skills on the CEFR scale, in over 40 languages, with 30-minute tests. ETS states that it was used by more than 1,600 organizations, especially recruiters at multinational corporations, outsourcing companies and customer service providers.
- Scoring: Pipplet entrusted assessment to native-speaker graders (page in French); ETS also mentions optional AI scoring.
- Turnaround: the shutdown notice advertised results in 24 hours.
- Certification: Pipplet issued the FLEX certification. According to its pricing FAQ (2023 price list, in French), a FLEX test cost €40 in a pack of 10 credits.
- Shutdown: the notice asked clients to download reports and data before December 20, 2025, and pointed to ETS's TOEIC® Link™ for English, available in select markets only.

Both tools place the level on the same scale, the CEFR, but with different tasks and scoring methods. Before setting your thresholds, compare the results of a few people whose level you know.
Can CEFRHub certify a candidate, like the FLEX certification?
No. CEFRHub is an educational assessment tool, not a certifying exam. If a role requires a certification, the candidate must take a recognized exam.
Where is candidate data stored?
